Requirements for Tennis Program/Team Participation
Bowie HS currently has a "no cut" tennis program, so any interested student is welcome to participate.
Program participants are required to furnish their own tennis equipment (shoes, racquets, attire et al.)
and a current (within the last calendar year) physical examination must be on file before participation is
allowed. Tennis program participants may earn PE or local course credit if they register for tennis as a
class at the beginning of a semester and successfully meet the course requirements. See your counselor
for details.
To be eligible to represent Bowie as a member of the Varsity Tennis Team, participants must be
students in good academic standing (passing all classes w/the exception of listed "exempt" courses)
who are residents of the Bowie attendance zone, or have been transfer students at Bowie for at least one
school year.
Fall "tryouts" are held (two weeks before school starts) to establish a "ladder" which will help
determine those players best qualified to represent Bowie HS during the fall team tennis season.
Players wishing to join the tennis program during the school year should contact
Coach Webber to obtain the necessary paperwork and schedule a stroke evaluation for placement on the
ladder. We'll see you at the net!
